President Xi Jinping said on Tuesday, adding that the islandβs reunification with the mainland is inevitable.
Xiβs comments were part of a speech to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, at a symposium marking the 130th birthday of Mao Zedong, according to Xinhua news agency.
βWe will resolutely prevent anyone from making Taiwan secede from China by any means,β Xi was quoted as saying.
Xi also described theΒ βcomplete reunificationβΒ of China asΒ βan inevitable trendβ;Β both in the national interest and the desire of the people. He called for efforts toΒ βpromote the peaceful developmentβΒ of relations with the island and furtherΒ integrated developmentΒ βin all fields.βΒ
