SwedenΒ is sending out some five million pamphlets to residents urging them to prepare for the possibility of war, with instructions on how to stockpile food and water amid growing fears of a conflict with Russia.

Neighbouring Finland has also launched a new preparedness website while Norwegians recently received booklets instructing them on how to manage on their own for a week in the event of war and other threats.

The global security situation increases the risks that nuclear weapons could be used. In the event of an attack with nuclear, biological or chemical weapons, take cover in the same way as in an air attack,’ it instructs readers.

‘Shelter provides the best protection. After a couple of days, the radiation has decreased significantly,’ it advises, adding that people will be warned of attacks over the radio and should go to basements or subways if there is no better option.

A submarine data communications cable across the Baltic Sea between Finland and Germany has broken and the cause for the disruption is being investigated, Finnish authorities said Monday.

The Finnish state-controlled data services provider, Cinia, said β€œa fault” was detected Monday in the C-Lion1 cable that runs nearly 1.200 kilometers (746 miles) from the Finnish capital, Helsinki, to the German port city of Rostock.

The C-Lion1, commissioned in 2016, is Finland’s only data communications cable that runs from the Nordic country directly to central Europe.

The president-elect’s son has blasted the β€œimbeciles” in Washington for reportedly approving Ukrainian missile strikes deep inside Russia

US President-elect Donald Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., has lashed out at the Democrats following reports that outgoing President Joe Biden has given Ukraine permission to use American-made long-range missiles to strike deep inside Russian territory.

Trump Jr., who campaigned alongside his father during the 2024 presidential election and has been helping him pick members of his future cabinet, did not mince his words on social media.

β€œThe Military Industrial Complex seems to want to make sure they get World War 3 going before my father has a chance to create peace and save lives,” he wrote on X on Sunday. β€œGotta lock in those $Trillions. Life be damned!!! Imbeciles!”
