Republicans in Congress are congratulating Donald Trump on his historic reelection.

House Speaker Mike Johnson said in a statement, “With President Trump back in the White House, there is no obstacle too great and no challenge too difficult.”

Sen. Lindsey Graham called on special counsel Jack Smith to end his federal investigations into Trump.

“To Jack Smith and your team: It is time to look forward to a new chapter in your legal careers as these politically motivated charges against President Trump hit a wall,” Graham posted on x.com.

“The Supreme Court substantially rejected what you were trying to do, and after tonight, it’s clear the American people are tired of lawfare. Bring these cases to an end. The American people deserve a refund,” he said.

In a statement on Tuesday, Kim Yo-jong lashed out at the US and its Asian allies over their “most hostile and aggressive” attitude toward North Korea. 

Kim Yo-jong, deputy department director of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, and sister of the DPRK’s head of state Kim Jong-un, has warned of far-reaching consequences from what she described as “ever-escalating military threats of hostile forces.”

She referred to recent joint drills of the US, Japan and South Korea, which she said was held “under the signboard of ‘counteraction’ and ‘warning’ to North Korea’s latest strategic weapon test.”

“This is another absolute proof of the validity and urgency of the line of building up the nuclear forces we have opted for and put into practice. Today’s upset of the balance of power between rivals on the Korean Peninsula and in the region precisely means a war. And this is an undeniable objective reality,” Kim’s sister underscored.

Washington and London have a back-up plan in the event of Ukraine losing the conflict with Moscow, the Russian foreign minister has said

The US and UK are setting up continental Europe for a military face-off with Moscow, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has claimed.

Lavrov issued the warning during his speech at the Inventing the Future symposium in Moscow on Monday.

Speaking about the Ukraine conflict, the top diplomat stressed that “the Anglo-Saxons [the US and UK] expect to defeat our country with the hands of the Kiev regime, just like Hitler, gathering most of Europe’s countries under the Nazi banner.”

“And, as a back-up plan, in case [Ukrainian leader Vladimir] Zelensky’s regime fails, they are preparing continental Europe to rush into a suicidal adventure and enter into a direct armed conflict with Russia,” he said.

Spain’s prime minister has ordered 5,000 more troops and 5,000 police officers and civil guards to the Valencia region as residents criticise local authorities over their response to catastrophic flooding.

Pedro Sánchez said 211 people have been confirmed dead, with the toll expected to rise further.

Heavy rains that began on Monday caused floods that destroyed bridges and covered towns with mud, cutting off communities and leaving them without water, food or electricity.

Sánchez said the deployment was Spain’s largest in peacetime, in response to one of the worst floods in Europe this century.

Moscow’s “disruptive activities” could include fake bomb threats, according to documents obtained by Welt am Sonntag.

Moldova is warning that Russia may attempt “disruptive activities” at overseas polling stations during the Moldovan runoff presidential election on Sunday, according to documents obtained by Welt am Sonntag.

The Moldovan government wrote to Berlin saying Moldova’s secret service warned the government in Chișinău about “Russia’s disruptive activities,” which could include “fake bomb threats targeting polling stations,” according to the documents obtained by Welt, a sister publication of POLITICO in the Axel Springer Group.

The so-called rules-based order imposed by the US and its allies on the global scene is an unstable structure, which is about to fall apart, former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has said in an exclusive interview with RT.

Creating crises such as the conflict between Russia and Ukraine in various places is how the US is trying to rule the world, Medvedev, who now serves as the deputy chairman of Russia’s Security Council, told the broadcaster on Saturday.

“So, the more crises they create, the better, they think, the situation is for America… It makes money from weapons, supplies, and by allocating money to its defense industry,” he said. 

”They have made a miscalculation, since they are not of the brightest kind… For some reason they think that Russians will never cross a certain line. They are wrong. If it comes down to the existence of our state, as the president of our country has repeatedly said… we will simply have no choice,” Medvedev said.

He stressed that any person who serves as president of a nuclear-armed state takes on the obligation to defend their country “to the last man,” and suggested that current Western leaders such as French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz “lack the acumen and subtlety of mind” of their predecessors.
