The Guardian has announced it will no longer post content on Elon Musk’s social media platform, X, from its official accounts.

In an announcement to readers, the news organisation said it considered the benefits of being on the platform formerly called Twitter were now outweighed by the negatives, citing the “often disturbing content” found on it.

“We wanted to let readers know that we will no longer post on any official Guardian editorial accounts on the social media site X,” the Guardian said.

Spirit Airlines is preparing to file for bankruptcy protection after merger talks with Frontier Airlines nosedived – sparking fears among flyers about mass cancelations. 

After news broke about the merger breakdown, the troubled airline’s share price plummeted 45 percent in just seconds –  erasing hundreds of millions in market value from the low cost carrier.

The Florida-based airline is in final negotiations with bondholders on a restructuring plan to secure the support of key creditors, the Wall Street Journal reported this evening. It owes more than $3 billion.

These projectiles can travel some 900km at several times the speed of sound, making it almost impossible for conventional air defence systems to shoot them down.

A decade ago, a mysterious crater appeared in the Russian Arctic, forming a huge jagged hole hundreds of feet wide, plunging down into an inky abyss.

It was surrounded by enormous chunks of soil and ice, testament to the violent forces that created it.

Since 2014, more than 20 such craters have exploded, pockmarking the remote landscapeof northwestern Siberia’s Yamal and Gydan Peninsulas — the most recent of which was discovered in August.

The craters have both intrigued and baffled scientists, who have spent years trying to unravel how they erupted into existence. A series of hypotheses have emerged, including wilder theories like a meteor strike or even aliens.

The team behind the new research decided to approach the questions like detective work, said Ana Morgado, a study author and chemical engineer at the University of Cambridge.

They first considered whether the explosions might be chemical reactions, but this was quickly ruled out. “There was no reporting of anything related to chemical combustion,” Morgado said.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated President Donald Trump on his historic election victory and confirmed Russia is ready to hold peace talks to end the Ukraine war.

Putin made those comments during a policy forum in Sochi, Russia.

After a long speech, Putin said that he would like to “take this opportunity to congratulate [Trump] on his election as president of the United States.”

He went on to say Russia is ready for talks with Trump on ending the conflict.

However, Putin stated:

“Russia didn’t ruin relations with the U.S. and is open to reviving them, but the ball is in the Americans’ court.”

Putin’s comments are a direct shot at President Joe Biden and VP Kamala Harris who oversaw the beginning of the war in Ukraine.

Some 130,000 in Valencia have demanded the resignation of the head of the local government

Clashes between protesters and police broke out in Valencia and Madrid during large-scale demonstrations on Saturday over Spanish authorities’ insufficient response to deadly floods that took place across Spain several weeks ago.

At least 220 people were killed and thousands of homes and businesses were destroyed when a rapid deluge caused by heavy rains inundated several towns in the province of Valencia in eastern Spain last month. Some 80 people are still missing as a result of what officials are calling one of Europe’s worst natural disasters in decades.

Around 130,000 demonstrators took to the streets of the city of Valencia to demand the resignation of Carlos Mazon, the head of the provincial government, El Pais newspaper reported.
