Steve Witkoff has reportedly arrived in Moscow to discuss the results of US-Ukraine talks in Saudi Arabia

Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that Moscow is in favor of a ceasefire, but has numerous questions about its practical implementation.

The Ukrainian troops in Russia’s Kursk Region are cut off, and it would be unclear what is to be done with them in the event of a truce, he said.

”Are we supposed to let them out, after they committed mass war crimes against civilians? The Ukrainian leadership could tell them to lay down their arms, and just surrender,” the Russian president said.

It is also unclear how the ceasefire would be monitored and enforced, he added.

Update:

Russian President Vladimir Putin rejected an immediate cease-fire, saying that any pause in fighting at this point would be in Ukraine’s interests.

March’s full “Blood Worm Moon,” a phenomenon that makes the moon appear red during a total lunar eclipse, is visible this week for Americans and others in Earth’s Western Hemisphere.

The full moon reaches peak illumination at 2:55 a.m. ET on Friday, March 14. The total lunar eclipse will make the moon appear red on Thursday, March 13 into the following day, depending on the time zone, according to NASA

The moon will exit from Earth’s full shadow between 3:31 and 4:48 a.m., and will leave the last of the partial shadow at 6 a.m., ending lunar eclipse.

President Donald Trump on Thursday threatened to impose a massive tariff on European alcohol in response to the European Union’s retaliation against his steel and aluminum tariffs – a tit-for-tat escalation of a trade war thatΒ could easily get out of hand.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump said his administration would impose a 200% tariff on alcoholic beverages from the EU unless it rescinds the 50% tariff the European government imposed Wednesday on US whiskey.

β€œIf this Tariff is not removed immediately, the U.S. will shortly place a 200% Tariff on all WINES, CHAMPAGNES, & ALCOHOLIC PRODUCTS COMING OUT OF FRANCE AND OTHER E.U. REPRESENTED COUNTRIES,” Trump said. β€œThis will be great for the Wine and Champagne businesses in the U.S.”

America’s response to Europe’s response to America’s tariffs in the span of 36 hours shows how trade wars can quickly spiral out of control. After Trump’s 25% tariffs on aluminum and steel went into effect at midnight Wednesday morning, the EU immediately responded to what it called β€œunjustified” trade action.

The mission was called off due to a reported hydraulics issue with the launchpad

SpaceX aborted the scheduled launch on Wedesday evening of its Crew-10 mission intended to retrieve two NASA astronauts who have been stranded aboard the International Space Station (ISS) for nine months.

The mission, scheduled to launch from Florida’s Kennedy Space Center at 7:48pm local time on March 12, was set to send a replacement crew to the ISS, allowing astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams to finally return home.

The two have been stuck on the station since June 2024 after their intended return vehicle, Boeing’s Starliner, experienced propulsion system issues. NASA deemed the spacecraft unsafe and ultimately disposed of it.
