The White House has published an updated version on the White House website, stating that the pandemic originated from a leak at a Chinese laboratory.

The virus possesses biological characteristics that are not found in nature.

Data shows that all COVID-19 cases stem from a single introduction of the virus into humans. This contradicts previous pandemics, which involved multiple spillover events.

Wuhan is home to China’s leading laboratory for researching atypical pneumonia, which has conducted gain-of-function research (altering genes and enhancing organisms) under insufficient biosafety conditions.

Researchers from the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) reportedly fell ill with symptoms resembling COVID-19 in the fall of 2019 β€” months before the virus was detected at a food market.

By all scientific standards, if there were evidence of a natural origin, it would have surfaced by now β€” but it hasn’t.

β€œThe Proximal Origin of SARS-CoV-2” publication β€” which was used repeatedly by public health officials and the media to discredit the lab leak theory β€” was prompted by Dr. Fauci to push the preferred narrative that COVID-19 originated in nature.

Update:

Anthony Fauci has petitioned the State Department for an emergency travel visa to China.

His lawyer states that he’s accepted a high-ranking position at the Wuhan Institute of Virology and needs to leave as soon as possible for “important” research.

If you haven’t contacted your representative or the State Department you should. Tell them you oppose hime leaving while charges are pending for his crimes. His Autopen Pardon is null and void.

The US will abandon trying to broker a Russia-Ukraine peace deal within days unless there are clear signs a truce can be reached, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has warned.

“We’re not going to continue with this endeavour for weeks and months on end,” Rubio said, adding that the US had “other priorities to focus on”.

Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022 and has placed a number of conditions on any potential ceasefire.

Despite the Trump administration’s initial confidence that it could secure a deal quickly, attempts to reach a full ceasefire have yet to materialise, with Washington blaming both sides.

Following a meeting with European leaders in Paris about a potential ceasefire on Thursday, Rubio told reporters on Friday: “We need to determine very quickly now – and I’m talking about a matter of days – whether or not this is doable” in the short-term.

“If it’s not going to happen, then we’re just going to move on,” he said about truce talks.

MYSTERY has deepened over Russia’s doomsday radio station called “The Buzzer” after the Soviet-era relic sent out four cryptic signals in just 24 hours.

On April 15, the doomsday radio signalled four words: Neptune, Thymus, Foxcloak, and Nootabu, according to Telegram channel UVB-76 logs, which constantly monitors its activity.

The radio signal buzzed the cryptic messages within 24 hours, understood to be a rare occasion.

While one knows what these eerie signals indicate, speculations are that they are linked to secret military operations or even nuclear protocols.

UVB-76 transmits on the frequency 4625 kHz and is characterised by an eerie sound that buzzes 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Scientists have found new but tentative evidence that a faraway world orbiting another star may be home to life.

A Cambridge team studying the atmosphere of a planet called K2-18b has detected signs of molecules which on Earth are only produced by simple organisms.

This is the second, and more promising, time chemicals associated with life have been detected in the planet’s atmosphere by Nasa’s James Webb Space Telescope (JWST).

But the team and independent astronomers stress that more data is needed to confirm these results.

The lead researcher, Prof Nikku Madhusudhan, told me at his lab at Cambridge University’s Institute of Astronomy that he hopes to obtain the clinching evidence soon.

“This is the strongest evidence yet there is possibly life out there. I can realistically say that we can confirm this signal within one to two years.”

The former president has slammed conservatives while claiming that the US is more divided than ever

Former US President Joe Biden has accused Donald Trump’s supporters of having β€œno hearts,” while claiming that America has β€œnever been this divided.”Biden himself was frequently accused by conservatives of demonizing his political opponents and inciting divisions during his four years in office.

Biden hit out at his successor on Tuesday in his first public speech since leaving the White House, alleging that Trump has inflicted a β€œbreathtaking” amount of damage on federal programs through extensive cuts.

β€œThey’ve taken a hatchet in Social Security, pushing additional 7,000 employees, 7,000 out the door in that time, including the most seasoned career officials. Now they’re getting ready to push something more out the door,” Biden stated.

The former president, who served between 2020 and 2024, went on to demean Trump’s supporters, arguing that the US has β€œnever been this divided.”

β€œGranted, it’s just 30%, but it’s a 30% that has no heart,” Biden said, apparently referring to a recent Reuters/Ipsos poll in which almost a third of respondents approved of Trump’s attempts to address the high cost of living.

Biden’s remarks have drawn criticism from conservatives, who alleged that the Democratic Party and the former president’s policies were one of the main contributing factors to divisions in American society.

The White House said China is now facing up to a 245 percent tariff on imports to the U.S. “as a result of its retaliatory actions,” another escalation in a trade war between the world’s two largest economies.

The top potential tariff is higher than the previously stated 145 percent and was referenced in a fact sheet published by the White House late on Tuesday.

It accompanied an executive order signed by President Donald Trump that launched an investigation into the “national security risks posed by U.S. reliance on imported processed critical minerals and their derivative products.”

Newsweek has contacted the White House press office by email outside of normal business hours for comment.

The U.S.-China trade war is rattling global markets, which fear the economic fallout of the conflict and others that Trump has launched against America’s trading partners.

Cutting off Chinese imports complicates American supply chains, increasing costs and forcing businesses to source from elsewhere. Consumers also face higher prices. Trump’s strategy is to use tariffs to pull more manufacturing investment into the U.S.

An exercise by the UN agency earlier this month simulated an outbreak of a β€œfictional” virus spreading across the world

The World Health Organization (WHO) has recently rehearsed a scenario in which an ancient virus lying dormant in the remains of a woolly mammoth caused a deadly global outbreak of β€œmammothpox,” The Telegraph has reported, citing documents about the exercise it had obtained.

The press release by the global health authority stated that earlier this month more than 15 countries took part in Exercise Polaris, which β€œsimulated an outbreak of a fictional virus spreading across the world,” aiming to test readiness for a new pandemic.

WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warned earlier this month that a new pandemic β€œcould happen in 20 years or more, or it could happen tomorrow,” describing it as an β€œepidemiological certainty.”

The exercise reportedly simulated an outbreak of β€œMammothpox,” a fictional virus similar to smallpox, a disease with a 30% mortality rate that was eradicated in 1980, and mpox, a dangerous variant of which is currently surging across central Africa.

According to the scenario, the virus was released after a team of scientists and documentary filmmakers excavated the remains of a woolly mammoth in the Arctic. Within weeks, intensive care units across the world were β€œoverwhelmed” and health systems were struggling to cope.

Although the countries involved in the exercise were able to contain the fictional virus, a real outbreak would prove much more complicated, the WHO acknowledged.
