The news was first reported by the Globe and Mail on Sunday night, citing three sources. The outlet said that it is unclear when exactly the Liberal Party leader will step down, but a resignation is expected to come before a national caucus meeting on Wednesday.

The news comes as Trudeau’s popularity continues to dwindle in Canada, which has a national election planned for Oct. 20 of this year. The country continues to suffer from a housing crisis, a declining per-capita GDP and high inflation, among other issues.

According to Canadian pollster Angus Reid, Trudeau has a disapproval rate of around 68% as of Dec. 24, with a meager 28% of Canadians supporting him.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said on Sunday that the allegations made by a lawmaker from the opposition Christian Democratic Union (CDU), Roderich Kiesewetter, about his supposedly upcoming trip to Moscow are false, calling such rumors “deeply indecent.”Β

On Saturday, Kiesewetter said on X that Scholz might travel to Moscow and meet Russian President Vladimir Putin before February 23, while US President-elect Donald Trump’s meeting with Putin had been scheduled for March. He did not provide any sources of information.

“This is a false statement,” Scholz was quoted as saying at his party’s meeting by the RND media group.

Experts warn that genetic fragments in inoculations might overstimulate the immune system, potentially leading to cancer

Pfizer’s mRNA Covid-19 vaccines contain residual DNA levels exceeding regulatory safety limits, according to a peer-reviewed study published this week in the Journal of High School Science.

The research was conducted by student scientists at the US Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) White Oak Campus lab in Maryland.

Residual DNA refers to small pieces of genetic material that may remain in vaccines or medicines after manufacturing. These fragments come from the cells or processes used to make the products.

World Health Organization (WHO) guidelines state that a single vaccine dose should not contain more than 10 nanograms of residual DNA. The study, however, found levels in Pfizer’s vaccines exceeding this limit by six to 470 times.

Researchers analyzed vaccines obtained from BEI Resources, a supplier linked to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. They used NanoDrop and Qubit methods to measure DNA levels. Both methods showed contamination above acceptable thresholds. Residual DNA was found in six vials from two different vaccine lots.

Pfizer has been under investigation several times. One notable case occurred in 2009 when Pfizer paid $2.3 billion to settle a Department of Justice investigation into illegal marketing practices for several of its drugs.

This marked the biggest healthcare fraud settlement in history at the time.

A metallic ring weighing half a ton has fallen on a village in the African nation, with no casualties or damage reported on the ground

The Kenya Space Agency has dismissed a media report suggesting that the country demanded compensation over a sizable circular object – apparently a spacecraft fragment – that fell on a remote village in the African nation earlier this week. The authorities said a probe into where the metallic ring came from was still underway.

In a post on Twitter on Friday, the agency stressed thatΒ β€œinvestigations into the object’s origin are still ongoing, and no official statement has been issued linking the debris to the Indian Space Research Organisation or any specific space mission.” TheΒ agency advised the public toΒ β€œawait official findings.”

A Seoul court has granted a warrant to detain Yoon Suk Yeol on insurrection charges

Officers from South Korea’s Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO) attempted to execute an arrest warrant for impeached President Yoon Suk Yeol early Friday but were blocked by military personnel serving under the Presidential Security Service (PSS), according to Yonhap News Agency.

The incident unfolded at Yoon’s residence, where the military unit presumed to be from the 55th Security Brigade was reportedly deployed to block the warrant against Yoon, escalating tensions surrounding this unprecedented step against a sitting president, Yonhap wrote on Friday.

Thousands of supporters gathered near Yoon’s home, complicating the arrest attempts. On Thursday, around 30 protesters were forcibly removed after breaking through a police barrier and clashing with officers, as reported by Yonhap.

Every evening, Ergus Katiaj uploads a video on TikTok reminding customers that his shop in Tirana delivers potato chips, cigarettes and alcohol through the night. His phone buzzes with orders that add about 1,000 euros to his monthly profit.

But Katiaj will soon have to find a new way to attract business. Albania’s government has imposed a year-long ban on the social media app that it says is aimed at reducing youth violence but which rights groups and business owners say threatens commerce and free speech ahead of May elections.

“It will have a huge impact on my business because most of the sales are through delivery thanks to TikTok’s free marketing,” Katiaj said as he made deliveries across the outskirts of the capital.

Hospitals overrun, crematoriums strained, and citizens panickingβ€”China grapples with a state of emergency as multiple respiratory viruses wreak havoc.

Nationwide Emergency Declared Amid Unprecedented Health Crisis

China has reportedly declared a state of emergency as a severe outbreak of multiple respiratory viruses, including Influenza A, Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV), Mycoplasma pneumoniae, and COVID-19, overwhelms healthcare systems across the nation. The alarming situation has strained hospitals, exhausted medical staff, and pushed crematoriums beyond their capacity. ( Not Confirmed )

Officials allegedly announced the emergency after an alarming surge in cases that experts describe as unprecedented in scope. In densely populated cities like Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou, patients reportedly face hours-long waits for hospital beds, and many are forced to seek care in crowded hallways. Videos circulating on social media depict overflowing crematoriums, with reports of extended delays for funerary services.
