Donald Trump will flex one of the most intense and sweeping demonstrations of presidential power on the first day of any administration, seeking to fundamentally change America’s course by sundown on Monday.

On a frigid day that forced inside his swearing-in as the 47th president, Trump plans a blizzard of hardline executive actions on immigration, energy production, transgender athletes and the pardoning of January 6 rioters.

His inaugural show of force — “close to 100 to be exact,” he said Sunday — will set the tone for a second term anchored on Trump’s strongman persona and vision of an all-powerful presidency, aimed at unleashing intense disruption at home and abroad.

But before he took office, outgoing President Joe Biden made his own extraordinary use of executive power that reflected an uncertain national moment, granting preemptive pardons to public servants deemed potential targets of Trump’s vows to seek retribution against his adversaries.

President Joe Biden on Monday issued preemptive pardons for Gen. Mark Milley, Dr. Anthony Fauci and members of Congress who served on the committee investigating the January 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol, using extraordinary executive prerogative as a shield against revenge by his incoming successor, Donald Trump.

The pardons, coming in the final hours of Biden’s presidency, amount to a stunning flex of presidential power that is unprecedented in recent presidential history. They serve to protect several outspoken critics of the incoming president, including former Republican Rep. Liz Cheney, whom Trump has vowed retribution against.

“These are exceptional circumstances, and I cannot in good conscience do nothing,” Biden wrote in a statement, issued hours before he was set to welcome Trump to the White House for tea before attending his swearing-in. “Baseless and politically motivated investigations wreak havoc on the lives, safety and financial security of targeted individuals and their families.”

Europe should consider following the United States in banning TikTok, Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna said on Sunday, after accusing the short-video sharing app of spreading disinformation.

“Over the past years, we’ve witnessed TikTok spreading disinformation & being a platform for election manipulations. On top of that, its vast data collection is known to pose a serious security risk. Banning TikTok must be considered in Europe as well,” Tsahkna said on X.

A Sputnik correspondent reported on Sunday that TikTok had stopped opening for users in the US and disappeared from the App Store.

On Friday, the Supreme Court voted unanimously to uphold the law banning the Chinese-owned video sharing app in the US on national security grounds.

On January 6, the Louisiana Department of Health announced that a patient hospitalized last month for H5N1 avian influenza had died, becoming the first U.S. death from the virus.

To make matters worse, samples taken from the individual suggest that the virus mutated within the patient after infection—meaning it had begun to adapt to infect humans better—raising new questions about H5N1’s pandemic potential.

There have been 66 confirmed human cases in the U.S., the majority of which have resulted from exposure while working on poultry or dairy farms. Most cases are mild, and the risk to the general public currently remains low, but the escalation of high mortality in other mammals is another red flag for public health experts.

The billionaire said he was “‘impressed” by the US president-elect’s interest in his healthcare innovation proposals

Billionaire Bill Gates has discussed how lessons from the Covid-19 pandemic could be used to “accelerate innovation” in addressing other global health challenges with US President-elect Donald Trump, according to an interview the Microsoft founder and vaccine advocate has given to the Wall Street Journal.

Gates described his recent three-hour dinner with Trump as “long and actually quite intriguing.” The meeting, which included incoming White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles and one of Gates’ staffers, reportedly focused on how Trump could contribute to significant milestones, such as developing a cure for HIV and eradicating polio.

“He was fascinated to hear what he could do to maximize the chance that during the next four years that incredible milestone [eradication of polio] will be achieved,” Gates said in a clip published by the Wall Street Journal on Friday.

The Supreme Court on Friday upheld the law requiring China-based ByteDance to divest its ownership of TikTok by Sunday or face an effective ban of the popular social video app in the U.S.

ByteDance has so far refused to sell TikTok, meaning many U.S. users could lose access to the app this weekend. The app may still work for those who already have TikTok on their phones, although ByteDance has also threatened to shut the app down.

In a unanimous decision, the Supreme Court sided with the Biden administration, upholding the Protecting Americans from Foreign Adversary Controlled Applications Act which President Joe Biden signed in April.

“There is no doubt that, for more than 170 million Americans, TikTok offers a distinctive and expansive outlet for expression, means of engagement, and source of community,” the Supreme Court’s opinion said. “But Congress has determined that divestiture is necessary to address its well-supported national security concerns regarding TikTok’s data collection practices and relationship with a foreign adversary.”

An alarming peer-reviewed study has confirmed that Covid mRNA “vaccines” caused a staggering 112,000% surge in deadly blood clots in the brain.

The major study involved one of the world’s leading cardiologists, Dr. Peter McCullough.

During the study, the team of leading American researchers found that Covid mRNA injections carry a risk of brain clots that is 1,119.6 times higher than the flu shot.

Dr. McCullough and his team published their study’s results in the prestigious International Journal of Innovative Research in Medical Science (IJIRMS).

The study was conducted by Doctors McCullough, Kirstin Cosgrove, James Thorp, and Claire Rogers.

The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) were used to extract the data with the MedAlerts.org platform.

VAERS uses the MedDRA (medical dictionary for regulatory activities), a clinically validated international medical terminology used for regulatory and biopharmaceutical purposes

Masoud Pezeshkian and Russian President Vladimir Putin are expected to discuss issues including the Israel-Palestine conflict and Tehran’s nuclear program

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has arrived in Moscow for talks with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, scheduled to be held later on Friday.

According to a statement on Thursday from the Kremlin, the two leaders are expected to discuss recent developments in the Middle East, such as the Israel-Palestine conflict and the ouster of Syrian President Bashar Assad. The talks will also cover Iran’s nuclear program.

Putin and Pezeshkian are also expected to sign the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement, which the Kremlin described as a framework for the long-term development of bilateral relations between Russia and Iran. The document will replace a previous agreement between the two states signed in 2001.
