The Palestinian group’s political chief, Ismail Haniyeh, was killed in a missile strike on his residence in Tehran

Russia has strongly condemned the assassination of Hamas political chief Ismail Hanieyah, who was killed in a missile strike on his residence in the Iranian capital Tehran on Wednesday.

The attack is widely believed to have been carried out by Israel, but West Jerusalem has yet to officially claim responsibility for the strike.

Commenting on the assassination, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stressed that Moscow β€œstrongly condemns this attack, as it resulted in the death of Haniyeh.”

β€œSuch actions are aimed against attempts to establish peace in the region and can significantly destabilize the already tense situation,” Peskov stressed.

Kimberly Cheatle had been facing calls to step down since the assassination attempt on the former president earlier this month

Kimberly Cheatle has resigned as director of the US Secret Service, after refusing to do so in the wake of the attempted assassination of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.

β€œIn light of recent events, it is with a heavy heart that I have made the difficult decision to step down as your director,” she wrote, according to AP.

Cheatle faced calls to resign almost immediately after the incident, but resisted for more than a week. In an ABC News interview, she tried to justify the absence of Secret Service agents on the roof from which Crooks shot by saying it was too β€œsloped” and posed a security hazard.

Concerns about Democrat President Joe Biden’s well-being are continuing to grow as inconsistencies emerge in the official narrative.

Biden hasn’t been seen in public for almost one week since he left for Delaware last Wednesday to supposedly recover from β€œCovid.”

During his absence, β€œBiden” made the historic announcement on Sunday that he is dropping out of the presidential race and endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris to replace him.

Yet, despite the gravity of the announcement, Biden has not yet addressed the nation about his decision.

Nor has there been an official White House press release.

Republican Congresswoman Lauren Boebert has demanded a β€œproof of life appearance” by US President Joe Biden as the 81-year-old has not been seen in public since contracting Covid-19 last week.

Boebert’s demand comes after Biden unexpectedly announced via social media on Sunday that he would be dropping out of the 2024 presidential race and would be endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris to represent the Democratic Party in November. The written announcement sparked concerns over Biden’s health, given that the message wasn’t accompanied by any photos or videos of the president.

In a series of posts on X on Monday, Boebert demanded that Biden provide β€œproof of life” by 5pm that day, saying the president β€œneeds to get in front of some cameras and discuss if he’s aware that he dropped out.”

β€œHiding is completely unacceptable,” Boebert wrote.

The US leader has dropped out of the election race and has endorsed his VP Kamala Harris as the Democratic candidate.

US President Joe Biden announced on Sunday that he will not seek reelection for a second term. In a post on X (formerly Twitter) the 81-year-old confirmed his decision to quit and backed Vice President Kamala Harris to be the new Democratic Party candidate for the November 5 vote. Republican rival Donald Trump has claimed Harris would be easier to beat than Biden.

The antivirus platform has acknowledged that a bug in an update was to blame for Friday’s global Windows 10 outage

SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk has revealed that his companies stopped using web/cloud-based antivirus platform CrowdStrike in the wake of Friday’s global Windows 10 outage. The cyber-security firm has admitted that the massive failures were caused by a recent update that conflicted with Microsoft systems.

The IT meltdown affected Windows 10 users around the world, including airports, banks, and broadcasters. According to aviation analytics firm Cirium, at least 4,295 flights were grounded globally due to the outage. The worldwide glitch also hit a number of media outlets, including the UK-based Sky News – which went off the air for a while – as well as the Australian-based ABC, SBS, Channel 7, Channel 9, and News Corp Australia.

Responding to a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, Musk wrote: β€œWe just deleted Crowdstrike from all our systems.”

European Commission president criticized in vaccine transparency judgment a day before she faces crucial vote on her future.

Ursula von der Leyen’s bid for a second term as European Commission chief has been dealt a major blow after a top EU court ruled she was not transparent enough with the public about Covid-19 vaccine contracts.

The EU General Court ruled against the Commission’s decision to redact large parts of the contracts before making them available.

The ruling came just over 24 hours before von der Leyen’s political future will be decided by MEPs. She needs 361 of the 720 EU lawmakers to back her in a secret vote that is expected to be close.

X (formerly Twitter) is facing persecution by the European Union because it rejected Brussels’ demand to secretly censor opinions on the platform, its owner Elon Musk has revealed.

The EU announced on Friday that it considered X in violation of its Digital Services Act (DSA) and intended to levy massive fines against the company unless it changed its practices.

β€œThe European Commission offered X an illegal secret deal: if we quietly censored speech without telling anyone, they would not fine us,” Musk wrote in response. β€œThe other platforms accepted that deal. X did not.”

β€œWe look forward to a very public battle in court, so that the people of Europe can know the truth,” he added.

Musk bought Twitter in October 2022, after voicing displeasure over widespread censorship on the social media platform. He has since unbanned most blocked accounts, including that of former President Donald Trump.

When Musk announced β€œthe bird is freed,” one of the responses came from Thierry Breton, the EU Commissioner for Internal Market.
