Chinese authorities have detained Leon Wang, AstraZeneca’s Executive Vice President of International and President of China.

The company stated that it is unaware of the details of the investigation.

China is a key market for AstraZeneca, developer of a Covid-19 jab widely administered throughout the world during the coronavirus pandemic.

But in September, the firm confirmed several employees were under investigation in China after a report said they were being questioned about potentially illegal data collection and drug imports.

The probes involved five current and former employees of the firm — all with Chinese citizenship — and were being led by authorities in the southern city of Shenzhen, Bloomberg said.

One investigation related to the firm’s collection of patient data, which authorities suspect may have breached Chinese privacy laws, Bloomberg reported, citing people with knowledge of the situation.

An administrative restructuring is underway at Soros Fund Management, founded by billionaire George Soros in the 1970s, as it plans to shutter its Hong Kong office, according to a Bloomberg report.

Although the exact reasons were not disclosed, this move comes just days after Soros’ son, Alex Soros, through the family’s Open Society Foundations, wasted tens of millions of dollars backing the biggest Democrat loser in a generation: Kamala Harris.

Bloomberg reporters working on the story could not obtain further comment from the investment firm.

A key question remains: Why is Soros Fund Management shrinking its Asian physical footprint? Bad china bets?

This administrative restructuring at the investment firm comes months after a major restructuring occurred within OSF over the summer. OSF reportedly laid off over 40% of its workforce worldwide and implemented a new operating model.

Even with all this restructuring, the philanthropic organizations controlled by the Soros family, with Alex Soros somewhere at the helm—and even further off the reservation than his father—wasted a lot of daddy’s money on supporting the biggest Democratic loser in a generation: Harris-Walz. This historic loss will be detrimental to the Soros family and far-left Davos elite, who push nation-wrecking globalist policies. The tide has turned.

The mayor of Amsterdam has condemned what she called an “explosion of antisemitism” in the city, during which Israeli football fans came under violent attack from local rioters.

Femke Halsema said youths on scooters had criss-crossed the Dutch capital on Thursday night on the hunt for Israeli supporters in a “hit-and-run”.

The police chief said five fans had been taken to hospital and as many as 30 others had suffered minor injuries. Prosecutors said a total of 62 people were arrested. Eight men and two minors were still in custody on Friday.

Supporters of Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv had travelled to Amsterdam for a Europa League match against Ajax which passed off peacefully.

Police initially said it was unclear who had taken part in the riots, although the mayor later spoke of young men on scooters. The mayor was careful not to give details about the ethnic backgrounds of those involved in the attack, emphasising that it was part of the police investigation.

Several videos have circulated on social media, with one showing a man being kicked and beaten on the ground and another showing someone being run over. In some videos, people could be heard shouting pro-Palestinian slogans, although the footage was not verified by the BBC.

Update:

The Israeli authorities have called on fans to avoid a basketball match of Maccabi Tel Aviv against Bologna in Italy on Friday, a day after violence broke out following a football game in Amsterdam.

Seoul says the show of force was a response to North Korea’s testing of a Hwasongpho-19 ICBM last week

South Korea launched a Hyunmoo-II ballistic missile on Thursday, the country’s media has reported, citing the military. Seoul said its latest live-fire exercise was a warning against any potential “provocation”by the North.

The short-range ballistic missile hit a target in the Yellow Sea, which represented a North Korean launch pad in the exercise, Yonhap news agency reported on Friday, quoting South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff.

“Our military demonstrated its strong resolve to respond to any North Korean provocation as well as the capabilities and posture for precision strikes,” military officials in Seoul stated, according to the media outlet.

Authorities in South Carolina on Thursday warned residents to lock their doors and windows after more than 40 monkeys escaped from a research facility.

The primates broke loose from a Alpha Genesis facility in Beaufort County and traps have been set up and thermal imaging cameras are being used in an effort to locate the fugitive monkeys, the Yemassee Police Department said in a statement.

In an update posted Thursday, police confirmed 43 rhesus macaque primates escaped and none had been captured as of early afternoon. Authorities said the primates were “very young females weighing approximately 6-7 lbs” and had never been used for testing due to their age.
