The declaration, made by Russia’s ambassador during an interview with Sky News, follows the UK’s approval of Storm Shadow missiles being used to strike targets within Russian territory.

“Absolutely, Britain and UK is now directly involved in this war.”

Speaking to Sky News’ Mark Austin, Russian ambassador to the UK Andrei Kelin also accused Ukraine of using mercenaries from different countries in the fighting.

It comes after Western allies green-lit Ukraine’s use of long-distance missiles to strike deep into Russia this week following months of requests from Kyiv.

Lieutenant General Sir Robert Andrew Magowan, Deputy Chief of the British Army, stated: “If the British Army were asked to fight tonight, it would fight tonight (against Russia).” He emphasized that the UK would respond decisively to any Russian invasion in Eastern Europe.

Just In: Russia fired an “intermediate-range ballistic missile, not an ICBM at Ukraine”, a US official tells Reuters, IRBMs are designed to travel distances between 3,000 and 5,500 kilometers.

The US missile defense base in Poland has long been considered a priority target for potential neutralization by the Russian Armed Forces, Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova stated during a briefing.

“Given the level of threats posed by such Western military facilities, the missile defense base in Poland has long been included among the priority targets for potential neutralization. If necessary, this can be achieved using a wide range of advanced weaponry,” the diplomat said.

Zakharova stated that the US-NATO construction project, ongoing for nearly a decade with complete disregard to Russian security concerns, has consistently been a focus of Russia’s attention. She emphasized that Russia has spent these years preparing countermeasures in response.
