The pharmaceutical giant Pfizer will pay nearly $60 million to resolve charges that a company it acquired paid kickbacks so that physicians would prescribe a specific migraine drug to patients, thereby defrauding Medicare and other federal health care programs.

The Justice Department announced Friday that Biohaven paid improper remuneration, including in the form of speaker honoraria and meals at high-end restaurants, to healthcare professionals to induce them to prescribe the migraine medication Nurtec ODTmore often in violation of the anti-kickback statute.

The scheme took place from March 1, 2020, through Sept. 30, 2022. Pfizer bought Biohaven in October 2022.

Prosecutors said that certain prescribers who attended multiple speaker programs on the same topic received no educational benefit from attending repeat programs and that certain Biohaven speaker programs were attended by individuals with no educational need to attend, such as the speakers’ spouses, family members, or friends, or colleagues from the speakers’ own medical practice.

Pfizer ended the Nurtec speaker programs after paying $11.5 billion to buy Biohaven.

Purdue and The Sackler family agree $7.4bn opioid settlement. And Pfizer is doing the same…

Purdue Pharma and the Sackler family who controlled it have agreed to pay up to $7.4bn (Β£6bn) to settle claims regarding its powerful prescription painkiller OxyContin.

The deal represents an increase of more than $1bn on a previous settlement that was rejected in 2024 by the US Supreme Court, according to news agencies AP and Reuters.

The Sacklers bankruptcy signed at the court filing on July 7, 2021

ALBERTA TASK FORCE SET TO HALT COVID VACCINE DUE TO DEADLY RISKS The official pandemic task force, commissioned by the government of Alberta, has issued a report which recommends an end to all mRNA vaccination because of a lack of effectiveness and disclosure of side effects.

β€œThe Task Force recommends halting the use of COVID-19 vaccines without full disclosure of their potential risks, ending their use in healthy children and teenagers, conducting further research into their effectiveness, establishing support for vaccine-injured individuals, and providing an opt-out mechanism from federal public health policy.

” The task force found that the COVID vaccine killed 9,612 Canadians in the province, and injured 309,403, and also that 17,640 of the 42,000 Albertans who saw immediate adverse reactions were actually at no risk of covid infection.

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith launched the task force in 2022 with an approximate $2M budget. She recently visited the U.S. for trade negotiations, and watched the Trump inauguration from the Canadian embassy in DC. Alberta followed strict lockdowns for about 18 months then abandoned those measures, as well as vaccine passports, mandated quarantines, mask mandates, and school closures.

A tragic example of the real impact of these shots is the death of Alberta baby Jesse Marvin Roos on December 23rd, 2024, who died suddenly after getting the COVID vaxx at hospital. His mother was an NDP activist and viciously attacked vaccine safety advocate Dr. William Makis for warning of the risk of pediatric deaths from the shots.

A US-bound flight was forced to return to Lagos after a United Airlines Boeing 787 experienced an emergency

Four passengers and two crew members sustained serious injuries when a United Airlines flight en route from Lagos to Washington experienced a sudden mid-air movement and had to return to the Nigerian city late on Friday, the air carrier’s spokesperson told the media.

A short video, apparently taken by passengers of the Boeing 787-8 flight and circulating on social media, shows chaos on board with trays, food, and other objects scattered across the plane’s floor. Social media posts reveal food and beverages strewn about the cabin.

The plane experienced β€œa technical issue and an unexpected aircraft movement” during the flight, the spokesperson told USA Today, adding that aviation authorities in the US and Nigeria have begun investigating the cause of the incident. The spokesperson added that the passengers who were hospitalized after landing have since been discharged.
