The teenage son of 16 and Pregnant star Whitney Purvis has died.

Weston Gosa Jr. passed away on Monday, aged just 16.

His heartbroken mother shared the news on Facebook, saying her worst nightmare has come true.

“How do you go on in life after losing a child? I’m in disbelief, this cannot be happening.

“I don’t want it to be real. I would do anything just to hold him. Words just can’t describe the pain I am feeling.”

Ms Purvis did not reveal a cause of death, but Weston’s stepmother, Amy Gosa, revealed that the family had ordered an autopsy to determine what happened.

“All we know is we got up this morning around 7am and tried to wake him up, he was not breathing, we attempted CPR and called an ambulance,” she explained on Facebook.

“We are heartbroken by the unexpected loss of Chase Stegall, a cherished member of our community, dedicated teammate and kind-hearted friend,” DePaul vice president and director of athletics DeWayne Peevy and head men’s soccer coach Mark Plotkin said in a joint statement. “Our thoughts and prayers are with Chase’s family, friends, teammates and all who loved him.

“In the coming days, we will support Chase’s family and teammates through this devastating time. His loss will be deeply felt across our entire Athletics and university family and his memory will forever be a part of DePaul University.”

Chase Stegall was only 20 years old.

A couple whose 17-year-old son died suddenly during a school sports match have spoken one year after his death, giving their advice on dealing with and discussing grief.

Raphaël Pryor collapsed on the green at Eton College while playing Field Game, a rugby-football hybrid unique to the school.

Raphaël’s father Michael Pryor watched in horror as his son dropped and CPR commenced, before the teenager was taken to Wexham Park Hospital and kept alive until his mother arrived.

Sabine Vandenbroucke rushed to her son’s hospital bed and Raphaël was pronounced dead at 10.30pm on March 16, 2024, with the cause of death as sudden adult death syndrome (SADS).

SADS is given as a cause of death after a cardiac arrest that cannot be explained by a post-mortem examination because the heart’s structure appears normal.

Speaking a year after her son’s death, Mrs Vandenbroucke told The Sunday Times: ‘We feel the grief so viscerally because we loved him so much.

The death of María Lorena Argüello, a semifinalist in Ecuador’s Miss Universe pageant last year, was confirmed by the nation’s pageant committee on Sunday.

No further details were provided. 

‘We stand with respect and solidarity with her family and loved ones in this time of grief,’ the Concurso Nacional de Belleza said in a statement on Instagram. 

‘Her memory will always be with us.’

Argüello represented Ecuador’s capital city of Quito in the 2024 contest, her first-ever pageant.

She obtained a medical surgeon degree from the University of Las Americas on June 30, 2024, three weeks before she came up short in the pageant.

Argüello’s unexpected death stunned her friend María Topic, who went on to be crowned Miss Universe Ecuador.

‘Today heaven gained a beautiful soul,’ Topic wrote on social media. ‘My heart mourns your passing, but I trust that God holds you in his arms.

Ukraine’s security service, the SBU, said on Tuesday that it had hit the bridge connecting Russia and the occupied Crimean Peninsula with explosives planted underwater.

“The Security Service of Ukraine carried out a new unique special operation and struck the Crimean Bridge for the third time – this time underwater!” the SBU wrote on Telegram.

The operation came after the SBU on Sunday launched an audacious air raid on Russia’s fleet of nuclear-capable strategic bombers.

The SBU said its agents had mined the piers of the road-and-rail Crimean Bridge, also called the Kerch Bridge, and detonated the first explosive at 4.44 a.m. Tuesday. The whole operation had taken several months, it added.

The agency said it had used 1,100 kilograms of explosives which “severely damaged” the underwater pillars supporting the bridge.

Dozens of people have been injured and a 14-year-old girl has died due to a panic attack, the interior minister has said

A 5.8-magnitude earthquake struck the Marmaris area of southwestern Türkiye in the early hours of Tuesday, injuring 69 people and resulting in the death of a 14-year-old girl, according to Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya.

According to the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD), the earthquake originated in the Mediterranean Sea. The epicenter was located 10.43km from the Mugla district of Marmaris, at a depth of 67.91km. In addition to southwestern Türkiye, tremors were felt across parts of southern Greece and the coastal areas of the Aegean Sea, local reports said.

In early 2023, the country was hit by a devastating earthquake that claimed tens of thousands of lives.

A 14-year-old girl in Fethiye died due to a panic attack, despite medical efforts, the interior minister said in a post on X. He added that dozens of people were injured after attempting to jump from heights during the chaos caused by the quake in Mugla Province and surrounding districts.

The far-right Party for Freedom (PVV) is leaving the Netherlands’ government over its policy for asylum-seekers, its leader Geert Wilders said on Tuesday, toppling the governing coalition.

“I signed up for the strictest asylum policy, not for the downfall of the Netherlands,” Wilders told reporters Tuesday morning. “And our responsibility for this cabinet therefore ends here.”

Wilders’ decision to withdraw support for the most right-leaning government in Dutch history has plunged the country’s politics into chaos. It leaves the government, led by Prime Minister Dick Schoof, with just 51 out of 150 seats in parliament.

Opposition leaders have called for immediate elections. Schoof, who has clashed with Wilders over policy, has not yet commented.
