United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres was wrong to attend the BRICS summit in Russia,ย having skipped Ukraineโsย โpeace conferenceโย last summer, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis has claimed.
Guterres, the Baltic state’s top diplomat has claimed, has lost his credibility and should consider resigning.
Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte also condemned Guterres’ trip, where he met with the leaders of China, Russia, India and others, as โpatheticโ and โincomprehensible.โ
Guterres traveled to the three-day event in Kazan, where high-level delegations from 36 nations were in attendance. His office emphasized that the meeting represented nearly half of the worldโs population and was thus โof great importanceโ for the organizationโs work.
