The 23rd eruption episode since December just tore open HalemaΚ»umaΚ»u crater β€” shooting lava over 1,000 feet into the air from Kilauea’s north vent.

For scale: that’s nearly the height of the Eiffel Tower. The south vent joined in too β€” with 230-foot fountains of its own. This latest burst started yesterday, part of a relentless cycle of eruption and pause that’s been building for months.
