United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres was wrong to attend the BRICS summit in Russia,Β having skipped UkraineβsΒ βpeace conferenceβΒ last summer, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Gabrielius Landsbergis has claimed.
Guterres, the Baltic state’s top diplomat has claimed, has lost his credibility and should consider resigning.
Lithuanian Prime Minister Ingrida Simonyte also condemned Guterres’ trip, where he met with the leaders of China, Russia, India and others, as βpatheticβ and βincomprehensible.β
Guterres traveled to the three-day event in Kazan, where high-level delegations from 36 nations were in attendance. His office emphasized that the meeting represented nearly half of the worldβs population and was thus βof great importanceβ for the organizationβs work.
