Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated President Donald Trump on his historic election victory and confirmed Russia is ready to hold peace talks to end the Ukraine war.
Putin made those comments during a policy forum in Sochi, Russia.
After a long speech, Putin said that he would like to βtake this opportunity to congratulate [Trump] on his election as president of the United States.β
He went on to say Russia is ready for talks with Trump on ending the conflict.
However, Putin stated:
βRussia didnβt ruin relations with the U.S. and is open to reviving them, but the ball is in the Americansβ court.β
Putinβs comments are a direct shot at President Joe Biden and VP Kamala Harris who oversaw the beginning of the war in Ukraine.
