Meta will face off against the U.S. Federal Trade Commission on Monday in a high-stakes antitrust trial that could result in the company divesting Instagram and WhatsApp.
The trial in Washington is expected to last weeks and centers around the FTCβs allegations that Meta monopolizes the personal social networking market. CEO Mark Zuckerberg, former COO Sheryl Sandberg, Instagram co-founder Kevin Systrom and other current and former Meta executives are expected to testify, along with top brass from rivals TikTok, Snap and GoogleβsYouTube, according to a legal filing.
The FTC claims Meta shouldnβt have been allowed to buy Instagram for $1 billion in 2012 and WhatsApp for $19 billion in 2014, and the agency is calling for those units to be sliced off from the Menlo Park, California, company.
Trump could arrest him… because of this….. The courts are going to find out why heβs a monopolistic person. Mark Zuckerberg also spent $400 million rigging the 2020 election..
FTC v Meta has posted its joint stipulation of facts ahead of Monday trial. Nothing interesting or noteworthy.

But I was reminded how absolutely bonkers coincidence it was that Meta had a global outage the morning after whistleblower's massive 60 Minutes expose on the company. pic.twitter.com/l2PsP3Eju9
