Ukraine’s main task in the eastern city of Bakhmut is to “deplete the enemy’s overwhelming forces and inflict heavy losses on it,” the commander of the Ukrainian Land Forces said Tuesday.

“We are now at a time when the enemy, trying to capture Bakhmut, has thrown all its best units in to achieve victory,” Col. Gen. Oleksandr Syrskyi said in a video posted on Telegram, which shows him standing alongside troops during a visit to the area.

“Our task is to destroy as many enemies as possible and create the conditions for us to launch an offensive. Therefore, you need to put an end to those enemy units that are in front of you. You have already proven that you can do this,” he said.

Russia plans to station tactical nuclear weapons in neighboring Belarus, President Vladimir Putin said Saturday.

Moscow will complete the construction of a special storage facility for tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus by the beginning of July, Putin told state broadcaster Russia 1.

He said Moscow had already transferred an Iskander short-range missile system, a device which can be fitted with nuclear or conventional warheads, to Belarus.

During the interview, Putin said Russia had helped Belarus convert 10 aircraft to make them capable of carrying tactical nuclear warheads and would start training pilots to fly the re-configured planes early next month.

Personal user data of ChatGPT, an artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot, has been compromised because of a bug, which was later discovered by chatbot developer OpenAI, the company said on Saturday. 

“We took ChatGPT offline earlier this week due to a bug in an open-source library which allowed some users to see titles from another active user’s chat history,” the company said in a statement, adding that the error is now fixed.

The commander in chief of Ukraine’s military emphasized the difficulty of the battle for the eastern city of Bakhmut during a call Friday with the head of the British Armed Forces.

Ukrainian Gen. Valerii Zaluzhnyi shared a Telegram post outlining his conversation with Britain’s Chief of the Defence Staff Adm. Sir Tony Radakin.

“I informed my colleague about the operational situation along the entire front line. The situation in the Bakhmut direction is the most difficult, Zaluzhnyi wrote. “Due to the titanic efforts of the Defense Forces, the situation has been stabilized.”
“We also discussed the issue of strengthening Ukrainian air defense,” he added.

Russian fighter aircraft launched more than 10 guided bombs against targets in the northern Sumy region overnight, according to Ukrainian officials.

While Sumy often suffers cross-border artillery attacks, it rarely comes under such concentrated aerial bombardment.

Yurii Ihnat, a Ukrainian air force spokesman, said about 10 Su-35 aircraft — Russia’s newest fighter jet — attacking the Sumy region with guided bombs.

“This is a serious threat, as guided bombs can fly far, and the planes are not within the range of our air defense,” Ihnat said. “Thus, more than 10 of these guided bombs attacked targets in the Sumy region. The losses there are being clarified.”

Ihnat also confirmed that Iranian-made Shahed drones had been used in an attack on the southern city of Kryvyi Rih.

A report from the state-run Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said the drone, called the “Unmanned Underwater Nuclear Attack Craft ‘Haeil,’” was tested from March 21 to 23, cruising in waters off the country’s east coast for more than 59 hours before its test warhead was detonated on Thursday afternoon.

“The mission of the underwater nuclear strategic weapon is to stealthily infiltrate into operational waters and make a super-scale radioactive tsunami through underwater explosion to destroy naval striker groups and major operational ports of the enemy,” the KCNA report said.

A missile strike on a residential building in Zaporizhzhia has killed at least one and left 25 people in the hospital, Anatolii Kurtiev, acting mayor of the city of Zaporizhzhia, said.

“Unfortunately, one injured person, who was in serious condition, died,” Kurtiev said on Telegram. “According to updated information, 25 people are currently in hospitals. 3 people are in serious condition, 19 are in moderate condition.”

Earlier, the region’s military administration said two Russian missiles hit a residential high-rise building in city Zaporizhzhia. Footage posted to social media Wednesday shows extensive damage and a fire at a residential block in Zaporizhzhia, apparently from a missile strike.

The State Emergency Service for the Kyiv region has told CNN that the number of people killed in a Russian drone strike that hit a residential building in the town of Rzhyshchiv Tuesday night has risen to seven.

Andrii Niebytov, the Kyv region police chief, previously said that a drone had struck a dormitory building.

Police and emergency services evacuated more than 200 people after the strike, Niebytov said.
