Patriarch Kirill, the head of the Russian Orthodox Church, has been put on a criminal wanted list by Ukraine’s Interior Ministry. The document identified the Patriarch by his secular name and described him as “an individual hiding from the bodies of pre-trial investigation” and deemed him responsible for violating Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

The head of Russia’s Investigative Committee, Alexander Bastrykin, said that a criminal case had been opened following the announcement and that measures will be taken to identify the Ukrainian special service officials who are seeking to prosecute the head of the Russian Orthodox Church.

Patriarch Kirill has repeatedly called on his parishioners to support the participants of Russia’s military operation against Ukraine, who were “sacrificing their lives to protect our Orthodox people in the Donbass.”

In a spectacular display of cosmic power, NASA’s Solar Dynamics Observatory has recorded the most significant solar flare seen in years, causing widespread radio signal disruptions on Earth.

The intense solar activity led to a two-hour-long disturbance in radio communications across various sunlit regions of the globe, including parts of the US.

Aviation professionals were among the first to report the impact, as pilots experienced notable disruptions in communication. The Space Weather Prediction Center, a key government body monitoring space weather, confirmed the widespread effects of the flare across the country.

Russian and Chinese pilots conducted their seventh joint air patrol over the Sea of Japan and East China Sea, the Chinese Defense Ministry said on Thursday. 

“According to the annual cooperation plan between the armed forces of China and Russia, on December 14, the two sides organized and carried out the seventh joint strategic air patrol in the respective airspace of the Sea of Japan and the East China Sea,” the ministry said in a statement.

The United Kingdom, Italy and Japan have inked an international agreement within the Global Combat Air Programme (GCAP) military program to develop a cutting-edge stealth fighter with supersonic capability that is expected to come into operation by 2035, the UK Defense Ministry said on Thursday. 

“The UK has signed an international Treaty with Japan and Italy for a future combat air programme that aims to develop an innovative stealth fighter with supersonic capability and equipped with cutting-edge technology … This combat air aircraft, due to take to the skies by 2035, aims to harness next-generation technologies,” the ministry said in a statement.

US pharmaceutical giant Pfizer has escalated its feud with Poland over excess Covid-19 vaccine doses that were ordered under a huge contract with the European Union. The company is suing the country over what it claims is an unfulfilled contract for Covid-19 vaccines.

Warsaw was locked into buying tens of millions of doses under a controversial contract the European Commission had signed with Pfizer in 2021 on behalf of EU nations. Pfizer is demanding 6 billion zloty ($1.5 billion) in compensation for 60 million doses that Poland’s government declined, after it stopped taking delivery of the jabs in April 2022.

Little is known about the largely classified mission, USSF-52, or its X-37B space plane, also known as the Orbital Test Vehicle (OTV). Similar in shape and design to NASA’s iconic Space Shuttle, the X-37B is tiny in comparison, with a wingspan of 15 feet and a length of 29 feet. NASA’s space shuttle was 122 feet long and had a wingspan of 78 feet.

SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy rocket is scheduled to launch the Boeing manufactured X-37B space plane for the US Space Force on Monday after a 24-hour delay due to inclement weather prevented a Sunday launch.

Now targeting Monday, December 11 for Falcon Heavy’s launch of the USSF-52 mission, with weather conditions forecasted to improve to 70% favorable for liftoff on Monday night,” the company wrote on X. “The team will use the time to complete additional pre-launch check outs.
