Satellite equipment has been used in the assassination of Iran’s top nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, says the spokesman for the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC).

Speaking in a commemoration ceremony for the assassinated Iranian scientist on Sunday, Brigadier General Ramezan Sharif said, “Advanced electronic instruments guided by satellite were used in the assassination of Martyr Fakhrizadeh.”

He added that “the Zionists are well aware that their measures [against Iran] will not go unanswered and this issue has been proven to them in the past.”

Italian police have arrested two suspects on charges of stealing sensitive data from the computers of Italian defense group Leonardo. The company provides cybersecurity services to NATO.

Based in Rome, Leonardo specializes in aerospace and security. It’s one of the world’s largest contractors and boasts NATO among its customers when it comes to cybersecurity. Yet, its image suffered a heavy blow when it turned out that a former employee and a contractor managed to bypass the company’s cybersecurity defenses and steal sensitive data from right under its nose.

Presumptive President-elect Joseph R. Biden’s national security adviser has held favorable views of the Hillary Clinton campaign-financed dossier that proved to be highly inaccurate with its various felony allegations against President Trump.

Jake Sullivan, who served as the Clinton campaign’s senior policy adviser, attended a postelection meeting in February 2017 with Glenn R. Simpson, co-founder of the investigative firm Fusion GPS. Mr. Simpson orchestrated the dossier’s distribution to the FBI, other government agencies and Washington reporters in an effort to try to bring down Mr. Trump.

For the second straight day, Ontario is reporting a record number of new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday.

The province recorded 1,924 new infections – an increase from the 1,859 cases the previous day. 

Toronto leads the way with 568 new coronavirus infections while Peel Region added 477 new cases. Another 249cases were reported in York Region.

Pfizer India has become the first pharmaceutical firm to seek an emergency use authorization for its COVID-19 vaccine in India, which has the second highest number of coronavirus infections.

“Pfizer India has submitted an application on December 4 to the DCGI seeking emergency use authorization (EUA) for its COVID-19 vaccine in India,” Indian media reported on Sunday, referring to the Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI).

“Pfizer India has sought permission for emergency usage authorization of its COVID-19 from DGCI to import and market,” an official was quoted as saying.

Chinese scientists say they have developed the world’s fastest quantum computer, capable of performing calculations that a regular computer would take billions of years to solve.

The leading quantum research group published its findings about the quantum computer in the journal Science on Thursday.

Chief professor behind the study, Lu Chaoyang, said the team achieved the breakthrough by manipulating photons, particles of light.

The breakthrough represents a quantum computational advantage, also known as quantum supremacy, in which no traditional computer can perform the same task in a reasonable amount of time and is unlikely to be overturned by algorithmic or hardware improvements, according to the research.

It also said the prototype was 100 trillion times faster than Japan’s Fukagu supercomputer, launched in June.
