Cardiff, Wales (CNN)The United Kingdom has become the first Western nation to begin vaccinating its citizens with a Covid-19 shot outside of clinical trials — a landmark moment in the coronavirus pandemic. The first Briton to get the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine — 90-year-old Margaret Keenan — received the first of two doses at 6:31 a.m. local time on Tuesday at University Hospital in Coventry, less than a week after the UK became the first country to approve it.

The Chinese authorities have restricted access to more than 100 mobile applications that it alleges spread offensive content related to prostitution, pornography, violence, and gambling.

The announcement was made by the Cyberspace Administration of China on Tuesday. All the offending apps have violated one or more cyber-security laws, the watchdog stated without providing any further detail.

Beijing warned on Tuesday it would take countermeasures, after Washington imposed sanctions on 14 Chinese officials over “an assault against Hong Kong’s democratic processes.”

China will take “firm counter-measures against the malicious actions by the US to safeguard our sovereignty, security, and developmental rights,” Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying told reporters on Tuesday. She also urged Washington to withdraw its decision.
